SHIFT's partner, MaxTRACE, is an African Agtech start-up that helps create traceable and transparent agriculture supply chains that improve the economic livelihoods of smallholder farmers.


MaxTRACE is a mobile application that ensures traceability of coffee from the farmer to the buyer through an integrated sourcing dashboard, farmer registration and inspection system, purchasing application and supply chain/financial tracking system.


We are looking for an Agritech fellow to work with our team in Uganda (or virtually) as we expand our operations.  Our ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, self-starter with interest in sustainable development, agriculture and technology. 


The position can be virtual or based in Kampala, Uganda. The duration of fellowship is flexible, with a preference for 6 or 10 months. A stipend is available to support living expenses while in Kampala.  


Core Responsibilities

  • Assist with proposal development (written and presentations, including grants)

  • Develop and execute a marketing strategy centered around sustainable agriculture and sustainable development

  • Develop and execute communications and social media content

  • Research new prospects, new contacts, and map/segment the marketplace

  • Represent MaxTRACE at business development and networking events


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline (e.g., Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Agribusiness, Entrepreneurship etc.)

  • Self-starter with strong interpersonal skills, willingness and ability to work with diverse backgrounds

  • Critical thinker, detail-oriented, problem solver

  • Excellent writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation and communication skills

  • Experience in Power Point, Excel, and social media planning tools such as Hootsuite

  • Ability to work in Kampala, Uganda 

  • Completely fluent in English


Additional Qualifications that are a Plus…

  • Knowledgeable in social media strategy, web design, InDesign, and marketing management

  • Knowledgeable in software development, agriculture supply chain, sustainable development, or agritech

  • Experience in international business settings and entrepreneurial environments

  • Experience in proposal development and/or grant writing

  • Prior work experience in sustainable development, agritech, social entrepreneurship, sustainable agriculture or consulting
